6 Tips For Improving Digestion

We eat everyday, but do you ever think about your digestion? Most of us take our digestive system for granted and don’t realize how sensitive they are. This blog has my 6 tips for improving digestion and will hopefully inspire you to make healthy digestion a priority!

1- Fiber

We have all heard that getting fiber is important for a healthy digestive system and to have regular bowel movements. But do you know what fiber does? Fiber is important to keep things moving, helps our intestines absorb nutrients, and balances pH levels. Make sure your diet is full of fiber! Eating beans, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes are great ways to get fiber into your diet.

2- Hydrate

Being hydrated is huge for improving digestion! Dehydration leads to constipation and low energy and nobody wants that. Drink plenty of water each day (around ½-1 gallon of water per day) and eat foods that contain water! For example, fruits and vegetables! Need help staying hydrated? Check out our BCAAs!

3- Sleep

Getting enough sleep is great for your digestive system. Our digestive systems have to work hard all day long and the only time it has to rest and repair is when we’re sleeping. So getting enough sleep is crucial to ensure your digestive system has enough time to rest. If you want to give your digestion even more of a break, you could give intermittent fasting a try!

4- Take a probiotic

Our digestive systems and gut are very sensitive and important to our overall health. Did you know a healthy gut can promote a healthy immune system? Probiotics give our gut the healthy bacteria it needs to thrive. Taking a probiotic each day is a great way to ensure your gut is healthy.

5- Chew your food slowly

Digestion begins in our mouth! Not only does our saliva play a part in digestion, but chewing your food thoroughly can make it easier for you to digest it. Another important aspect of chewing your food is how quickly you’re eating. We are always in a hurry and eating on the go. However, eating quickly can actually trigger our “flight or fight” response and cause issues to our digestive system. Chew slowly and take your time!

6- Exercise

Need more reasons to exercise? Exercise promotes blood flow to the entire body including the digestive system. As a result, regular exercise can help support a healthy digestive system! It also helps us avoid constipation, bloating and gas.

In Conclusion

I hope you found my tips for improving your digestion helpful! It’s important to have a healthy digestive system and there are many ways to improve your digestion!
