1- Compete With Yourself & Others
Athletes are competitive by nature, so when we don’t have a competition coming up, it’s hard to stay motivated. Ya feel? Try signing up for a 5k or a ninja warrior competition! This gives you a goal with a deadline which helps you stay focused during training. Bonus, competitions typically motivate you to push even harder during training. For those of you struggling to get to the gym, signing up for a competition is always a sure-fire way to make sure your booty gets there!
2- Join a Challenge
It’s a good thing to be constantly growing and challenging yourself! Find a challenge, whether it is a fitness challenge at your school or a step challenge at your work, join it and crush it!

3- Try Something New
Do you ever find yourself in a rut or doing the same things over and over? Trying something new is a great way to keep you from getting bored with your workouts. If you’re normally lifting weights, try a yoga or spin class! Who knows, you might even find your new favorite way to exercise.
4- Add Variations to Your Typical Workout Routine
Let’s say you’re big into weight lifting and you’re working to put on some lean muscle mass, this means you’re probably pretty consistent with main lifts like squats, deadlifts, bicep curls, etc. Which isn’t a bad thing at all, especially for your goals, but it can get pretty repetitive, and sometimes a little boring.
Try keeping the main exercises the same but adding a slight variation! You can either go for a different amount of reps & sets to what you’re used to. You can try to do upper body workouts seated instead of standing (or vice versa). Do the exercises in a different order, or you can do the same workouts with a different piece of equipment! I.E. for squats, you can add a resistance band around the top of your knees or switch from a back squat to a goblet squat.
This will take some creativity, but will definitely prevent your workout from feeling mundane.
5- Make a Bomb Playlist
Listening to music is a great way to distract yourself from the sound of the heavy breathing you’re doing (which can often make you feel more tired than you really are.) But really, what better way to get pumped up for a workout than a great song? Find some music you LOVE, make a playlist and go and dominate your workout!
