Staceys Big Bad Win

We are excited to talk to Stacey Jensen one of the Co-Owners of Sweat Cycle House. She is a former Cirque Du Soleil Artist and now the owner of one of the hottest cycling gym in Utah!

Tell us a little about your health and fitness journey so far? 

I grew as a dancer allowed me to move my body but also came with lots of body image issues. I started to work out from a young age to stay “thin” and look my best on stage. Little did I know that being thin didn’t make me happy but Being Strong Made Me Feel Like Wonder Woman. I fell in love with lifting weights and seeing how strong I could become. I also became a lot less worried about my outward appearance and more focused on how I felt on the inside. 

What is your favorite ways to break a sweat? 

I did CrossFit for many years. I love to lift heavy weights and do circuit style training. As a dancer weight lifting was very hard on my body and I needed to find another form of exercise that I could incorporate into my fitness routine while still being able to perform my best on stage. I grew up cycling out side with my dad and always loved to bike. I had no idea I would love indoor cycling as much as I do but it has been the great outlet for me. I feel strong, fast, and in control while also breaking a major SWEAT which I love. 

Take us through a normal day. How do you structure your time and balance your different responsibilities with your hobbies and interests? 

As a business owner and athlete my days start early and end late. I try my best to find 20 mins a day to move my body. Some days teaching one ride is all I get and others I’ll fit in a nice lifting session or group training class. 

Whatever it is I know I did my best and tomorrow is a new day! 

What advice do you have for people who are just getting started or are just getting back into it after taking time off?

Consistency!! Consistency is key when it comes to fitness and nutrition. Even if it’s something small and you have little victories each day just be consistent. Habits take time and change doesn’t happen over night. Your physical and mental health is changing for the better every day you try your best. Don’t forget that.

What has been your biggest win (when it comes to your own health and fitness)?

Truly being happy in my own skin. Like I said I struggled for many years with my body image. Once I started working out consistently and finding my strength I grew to love my “muscular” build and became happy being strong not skinny. 

Tell us about the hardships and challenges you’ve overcome and the lessons you’ve learned along the way. If there’s an experience that really shaped your journey and you feel comfortable with sharing it, please do! 

I battled for many years with self doubt and depression. Although it is an on going battle taking care of my mental and physical is a daily priority. I have learned that WHO I spend my time with and WHAT I spend my time doing are the things I have control over. 

What (or Who) inspires you and why? 

My husband inspires me every day. He is the epitome of hard work and loyalty. He supports me in my business and always pushes me to do more and be better cause there is no point in settling when you are living your dream. 

In your observation, what do you think is the biggest road-block people face when it comes to reaching their health and fitness goals? 

Self Doubt or fear! 

If you could help other women understand one thing about health and fitness, what would it be?

As long as you’re giving your 100% for THAT day then mark it as a win. 

My husband and I live by the motto “win the day” 

Will every day be a win NO but every day is a new chance to be a little better. 

What makes you Bad?

When I set my mind on something I will do whatever it takes to make that happen. I do everything in my life based on my passion and feelings. I don’t do anything that doesn’t align with who I am as a woman, athlete, performer, business owner, wife, sister, daughter, or friend.
