What’s preventing you from achieving your goals

Do you feel like you’re not good at setting or achieving your goals? You’re not alone. Many of us struggle to achieve our goals for many reasons. Today we’re going to dive into what’s preventing you from achieving your goals and how we can become successful.


More often than not, we are the one who gets in the way. We either don’t set goals in the first place, or we don’t believe in ourselves to achieve them. If you don’t believe in yourself or constantly worry about what other people are going to think, you’ll never succeed. 

To combat this, focus on building yourself up from the inside out. Do what’s going to make you happy and stop getting in your own way.

Fear of failure

The fear of failure is real. Goals can be intimidating and no one likes to fail. However, instead of focusing on failure, try focusing on success. Choose to think about your goal and how you’re going to succeed.  Don’t let failure be an option. You only fail when you stop trying!

Focus on what you WANT instead of what you DON’T.

Allow yourself to dream

Allow yourself to dream! We often limit ourselves to small, comfortable goals. This prevents us from actually achieving our true potential and living our life to the fullest. Goals are supposed to be challenging! Don’t shy away from setting a goal because it seems too big or too uncomfortable. 

Dreams can become a reality when you set goals!

Lack of discipline

How many times have you set a goal to lose weight? Why don’t you achieve it? The answer could be lack of discipline. Achieving goals isn’t easy, otherwise everyone would be achieving their goals! Being disciplined and doing things even when you don’t want to is the only way to succeed. You’re not always going to be in the mood, so force yourself to do it.

If you can be disciplined enough to make changes, you’ll start succeeding.

Your goals aren’t SMART

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based. Every time you set a goal, make sure it fits each of these categories. Goals have to be extremely specific, easily measured, achievable especially within your time frame, relevant to your current passions, and time-bound otherwise you’ll never achieve them. You can’t simply wish something would happen, you have to make a plan and follow through!

You Don’t Take The First Step

Stop putting things off! You don’t have to be perfect and do everything right, just start. Starting can be the hardest part because it can seem overwhelming. Take the first step and don’t look back.

We’re all starting at different places. Accept where you are at now and simply begin!
